The Tallis Scholars, under the direction of Peter Phillips for an impressive fifty years, stand as one of the most influential vocal ensembles from the UK and indeed of our era. It has been a long-awaited moment to welcome them to Leipzig, and we’re delighted that they’ll finally make their debut at a cappella! This ensemble has significantly shaped the development and appreciation of sacred Renaissance vocal music, always aiming for an exceptionally pure sound that has become their hallmark. In their upcoming concert, Peter Phillips and his ensemble will delve into the works of composers associated with the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican, such as Palestrina, Morales and Carpentras. Their not-to-be-missed recital will include the Tallis Scholars’ signature piece: Allegri’s ‘Miserere’.
